On this date in 1932, a true rock and roll legend was born. Little Richard (born Richard Wayne Penniman) from Macon, Georgia became one of the true innovators and architects of rock music and added a heavy dose of humor, flamboyance and fun to the mix. From his initial breakout in 1955 with his classic “Tutti Frutti,” Richard has been recognized as a true pioneer and trailblazer and has served as a catalyst for the genres of funk and soul along with being one of the true icons of rock and roll. His free spirit and panache helped to influence glam rock as well; David Bowie, Marc Bolan and Freddie Mercury all cited Little Richard as a huge influence as have countless others. Happy 85th to this truly original and influential rock and roll legend.

G’Day Norm, I saw Lilttle Richard, Eddie Corcoran and (I think) Gene Vincent at the Sydney Stadium way back in 1957 when I must have been 14. Little Richard brought the house down!! We were always about 6 months behind the USA with record releases and we sure loved the music. Also saw Crash Craddock plus Santo and Johnny in the stadium a few years later. They were great times eh!
Not sure how I stumbled on your website but I’ve had fun cruising around on it….some interesting stuff on it.
Best Regards

Nice… I did see Little Richard in the ’50s. But, unfortunately, not Eddie or Gene. Two of my favorites.

Thanks for dropping by and taking the time to mention your memories.
