This is odd, but I have no recollection of this song. It was out the year I graduated from high school, so I was really into rock radio. By then Keny was back on the air as Kbfw at 930am so KJR was not coming in well in Bellingham. But I am not remembering it from local or BC. Stations…but maybe it was just not that memorable to me.

Primo song! Produced by the Who’s Pete Townshend and I think he played bass on it too.

Beware, the above blue album cover link goes to the Amazon page for a band called just “Thunderclap” with a re-creation of the original song.

One of the first songs I remembered playing in the summer of 69. I couldn’t wait to play it and even more so hearing it jump out of the radio on KJR.

Norm you said it well recently, we’re gonna miss rock n’ roll. I agree with you especially the great stuff.

Top 40 radio was always better off with rock n’ roll in the mix.

This song and the Chamber Brothers: “Time Has Come Today” were summer of 69 standouts and helped keep KJR on top.

Ah yes… the summer of 1969. I remember trying to convince O’Day we should be playing Marvin Gaye’s Too Busy Thinking About My Baby.

Speaking of summer ’69 hits :: How about Get Back by The Beatles? Zager and Evans were number one week after week. Until the Stones came along with Honky Tonk Women.
