Norm Gregory Radio Scrapbook: 1971 – Norm Moves To Afternoons On KJR

by Norm Gregory on February 1, 2012

in 1971, KJR, Radio Scrapbook

The Doxie scanner used to create this digital copy of this musty clipping.
Here is a memo from the KJR program Director in 1971. It’s pretty self explanatory (if you can read it).

Brink’s first stint at KJR last for less than four months (It seems like it was longer — I can’t remember the circumstances of his departure); I also note that I took over afternoons the day before my 27th birthday and worked the shift until July 1974 so that is almost three years.

What is going on here? I have been digging through My Collection of photos, news clippings and other documents from my 35 years in radio. The daily postings began on May 19, 2011. The Collection can be sorted:

By radio station: KPUG • KJRB • KJR • KZOK • KQFM • KOMO • KJR-FM

By year: 1961 • 1963 • 1967 • 1968 • 1969 • 1970 • 1971 • 1972
1973 • 1974 • 1975 • 1976 • 1977 • 1978 • 1979 • 1980 • 1981 • 1994

That shift was a good fit for you and then your added duties as Music Director enhanced the station, the market and the industry even more. Frankie and Danny Kaye could not have been more proud (lol).

Thanks Dan . . .

I was figuring that between 1968 and 2000 I was on Seattle radio afternoons for about 20 years. KJR, KZOK, KJR, KOMO, KJR-FM.
