Norm Gregory Radio Scrapbook: Gary Crow, KZOK 1976

Let’s get right to what you are curious about here. That’s Gary Crow’s “Nude Wall” in the KZOK studio. Crow asked listeners to send in photos of naked people. Talk about theater of mind!! Hearing about the photos and the wall on the air conjured up all kinds of exotic images. In reality there was nothing exotic about it. It was just plain disgusting. Crow worked with me at KZOK until 1977 when he went to KISW. Unfortunate timing on his part. KZOK crushed KISW and sent the P.D. Bill Bartlett high-tailing it out of town.

The Doxie scanner was used to create these digital copies.

I did not know Bill Bartlett . . . he was PD at KISW for a short period of time in 1977. I forget where he came from but remember that he brought a new attitude to Seattle radio. Evidently a fierce competitor he didn’t want his staff talking to or hanging with people from stations he with whom he was battling. This policy was noticed at record label parties and other media events.

A week after the Fall 1977 Arbitron “book” was released I received this at my home in West Seattle.
