“Please Mr Postman” Marvelettes
This sounds live, recorded a couple years ago. Probably not the original members except for Gladys Horton who is now a middle aged woman. Notice no close ups . . . but her voice has not changed. Gladys is one of the most underrated, unknown singers in rock ‘n roll.
Marvelettes Medley
A rare 1963 video recording. This how the Motown groups did their stuff on the Motown Revue. (7 minutes)
“My Guy” Mary Wells Okay . . it’s lip-sync . . . but it’s all we have left.
Phil Spector Jukebox
“Cowgirl In The Sand” Neil Young (1971)
An acoustic version.
“Not Fade Away” Rolling Stones (1964)
This song is why I bought the first Stones album. I had not heard of them before. When I heard their high energy version of one of my fave Buddy Holly songs. I was a fan for life.
“Johnny B Goode” Chuck Berry (1965)
This is Chuck’s American Bandstand appearance some eight years after his ground breaking hit made it into the Top Ten. In the spring of 2008 Johnny B Goode was named Rolling Stone magazines’ #1 Greatest Guitar Song of All Time.
“All Along The Watchtower” Jimi Hendrix (1970)

“Deserie” The Charts (The original - audio only) (1957)
“Be My Baby” Ronnie & the New Ronettes (1977)
Ronnie Spector hired two new girls and revived the Ronettes in the mid ’70’s. Original members Nedra and Estelle had moved on, put on weight, started families, etc and didn’t want to do it any more. The new configuration didn’t last long. Allegedly Ronnie got drunk before a Dick Clark show and couldn’t make it on stage. Clark fired her, and the “new Ronettes” walked out. . . and that was that. The video quality of this recording of this episode of short lived syndicated Sha Na Na Show TV show sucks . . . it’s value is that this is the only recording of Ronnie’s new group and it’s a live performance. It’s proof, if you needed it, that Ronnie’s voice was/is the prototype of the “girl group sound” that Madonna and many others have subsequently built on.

“Cowgirl In The Sand” Neil Young (2000)

I guess he’s never done a bad version of the song. This one is pretty good. The best live version came in 1970, when the song was less than two years old, recorded with Crazy Horse at the Fillmore East.
“All Along The Watchtower” Eric Clapton & Lenny Kravitz
The visual quality sucks, but listen to Clapton play with such confidence, talent and power. This shows why this guy is the greatest living electric guitar player.
“All Along The Watchtower” Neil Young, Booker T & the MGs
“Down By The River” Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young (1969)
“Amelia” Joni Mitchell
“Helpless” Crosby, Stills, Nash, Young and Mitchell (1974)
