Last Three Movies I Watched: Paterson, Night Will Fall, Allied

in Movies, What I Watched

Paterson – Most movies these days are in big hurry… special affects, chase scenes, etc. None of those distractions in Paterson. What we have hear is the story of Paterson who lives in Paterson, New Jersey. He is a poet/bus driver (is that unique enough for you?) who lives a ordinary life. Or . . . is it an ordinary life? For me it was a very relaxing viewing experience. Grade: B+ [ RT ]

Night Will Fall – This is a 2014 documentary film that chronicles the making of the 1945 British government documentary German Concentration Camps Factual Survey. Most of the footage of Night Will Fall has been stored away for 70 years. Those in charge of media felt the graphic images would be too shocking for modern people. But it must be seen (as hard as it is to watch) and never never never ever be forgotten. Grade: A [ RT ]

Allied – This is a good old fashion World War II drama. But with an unpredictable plot. That is a major plus for me. A good story laid over some solid history. Highly recommended. Oh.. in the cast: Marion Cotillard and Brad Pitt. Grade: B [ RT ]

This is a list of the last three major video items I watched on my home 80 inch screen.

I too liked Allies. It exceeded my B movie expectation. Credit to Steven Knight one terrific screenwriter responsible for an old fashioned World War II movie that works. Knight is also responsible for “Taboo”, “Locke” “Peaky Blinders”, “Eastern Promises” just to name a few. I give “Allies” a solid B…and now enter my B- for Miss Sloan…watchable…interesting…but derivative and dated. Yes I’m a fan of Jessica Chastain, but her character didn’t wear well.
