It’s officially the wettest winter in Seattle history and it’s not over yet.

The National Weather Service said 22.78 inches of rain have fallen at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport since Dec. 1.

That barely beats the previous record of 22.77 inches set in the winter of 1998 to 1999.

With 10 days left in the month and more rain on tap this weekend, meteorologist Josh Smith said the record will likely skootch above 23 inches.

Saturday is expected to provide a brief weather break before rain returns Sunday but 15 mph winds are possible both days.
