Cherry Hill Park was written by Robert Nix …arranged by Buddy Buie and Bill Lowery. All had roots with The CandyMen and the Classics 4….whose members later would form The Atlanta Rhythm Section under Bill Lowery’s Atlanta based music publishing company.

Spent time with Bill Lowery and his son as well as members of the Atlanta Rhythm Section when I worked for WQXI Atlanta in the mid 70s.

My favorite Billy Joe Royal song must have been in the Kpug recurrent bin when I first started listening in Feb 66. Ballad of Green Berets was at #1, Boots, California Dreaming, 19th Nervous Breakdown, Nowhere Man, Listen People, Elusive Butterfly, Cheater, Working My Way Back To You are top tens I remember from the time. But the recurrent they were playing by Billy Joe was I Knew You When….from ’65. Another now forgotten recurrent of the time was Ronnie Dove’s When Liking Turns To Loving. As a 14 year old I thought they were all great.
