I will be seeing An Education and The Men Who Stare at Goats this weekend, as finally arrive in Seattle. Here are some reviews of upcoming movies.

The Men Who Stare at Goats Movie Reviews

Though The Men Who Stare at Goats is a mostly entertaining, farcical glimpse of men at war, some may find its satire and dark humor less than edgy ● More from: Rotten Tomatoes

An Education Movie Reviews

Though the latter part of the film may not appeal to all, An Education is a charming coming-of-age tale powered by the strength of relative newcomer Carey Mulligan’s standout performance. ● More from: Rotten Tomatoes

George Clooney, Jeff Bridges, Ewan McGregor and assorted ruminants kick up their heels in ‘Men Who Stare at Goats’

The line between satirical and silly can be a thin one, and Grant Heslov’s “The Men Who Stare at Goats” skips over it and back as quickly as a double-Dutch jumper, and often as nimbly. It’s a slight film, even with an unnecessarily uplifting message near the end, but it’s often a kick; a chance for a handful of actors — and a goat — to toss around some off-the-wall dialogue (i.e. “Last week I killed my hamster”) and kick up their heels in the service of comedy. ● More from: Seattle Times Newspaper

‘An Education’ you won’t forget

Teenage girls, around 16 or 17, flicker like candles: One minute they look terribly young, then with a switch of mood or change of light, they suddenly appear to be grown women as years pass in an instant. ● More from: Seattle Times Newspaper

Pirate Radio Filled With Laugh-out-Loud Moments

In a time when rock and roll was looked down upon by the British government, one Pirate Radio ship helped spread the music. Anchored off the coast of Britain in the middle of the North Sea (just beyond British jurisdiction), the station sent out live broadcasts twenty four hours a day.

The villains, government minister Dormandy (Kenneth Branagh) and his sidekick Twatt (Jack Davenport), properly named, are hell bent on silencing the radio for good. ● More from: gkmen.com

Robert De Niro Movie a “Fine” Mess

There isn’t much that’s fine in “Everybody’s Fine,” an embarrassing misfire for Kirk Jones, who once gave us the exhilarating comedy “Waking Ned Devine,” and for Miramax, a storied company now reduced to little more than a film library.

Despite a cloyingly sentimental story that rings false in every moment, the production did attract a substantial cast headed by Robert De Niro. It’s not going to help though when Disney’s downsized specialty unit releases the film December 4. ● More from: ABC News
