Record companies screwed over Lester Chambers of The Chambers Brothers for decades and as a result, today he’s poor.

Lester’s plight was discovered when the lead singer of The Chambers Brothers posted this photo:

Now Lester is putting out an album and advocating artists rights. Join him!

I never thought as I played The Chambers Brothers on KJRB, Spokane there would come a time when I could pay back the lead singer in some small way . . . Here is the single version of The Chambers Brothers top ten hit from 1968. One of the great songs of the ’60s.

Norm, I saw them in about ’65, ’66 when I was in the Army at Ft. Ord, CA. Went down to Big Sur Hot Springs for Joan Baez annual concert there. They were a gospel group at this time and did, “Just a Closer Walk” with Joan and then went into “Our new record…”…”Time…” big thrill for me. I’m sorry he’s having to do this, but it’s good this is available for people like….us.

You were at Big Sur?

I happen to record the only showing of the concert film, that I know of, on TV. Never been on a DVD, etc. until last year. Classic performance of CSN&Y doing ‘Down By The River’ for one of the first times in public. This was . . what? . . a month after Woodstock? . . which I believe was CSN&Y’s 2nd public appearance.

Went and got the DVD:
