The Academy Award Nominations will be announced tomorrow morning. For the first time since the early 1940s there will be ten Best Picture noms. Many think this means there is an outside change that some “left-field” pick could make the top ten. I doubt it. If you understand the math . . . the ten will be made up films picked at number 1 or number 2 on ballots. Can you image The Hangover, The Blind Side or Star Trek being among the top two on very many ballots?

So why doesn’t it happen in Hollywood at Oscar time?
