How come we reluctantly talk about radio.

I still check in regularly and enjoy the vidcast. I’m doing a bit of voice work from home now. You said you didn’t want to talk about radio then opened up the door! I hear ya about just walking away in 2000. I continue to be a bit idealistic about terrestrial radio’s future because it still has such tremendous reach. But finding an operator somewhere who wants to take advantage of the reality of the biz is really tough. In my humble opinion the realities of the biz don’t mandate April fool’s broadcasts, halloween remotes, or remotes at all for that matter. Right now they’re all looking for economies of scale. BMW is now making the Internet available on the dashboard…maybe that’ll be a catalyst to get a new format or two (or a dozen) going. I think the reality of the biz (which might equate to fun for geezers like us) is to program to the available audience. 40+. As I hear it, only NPR and a few heritage stations are still doing that. WGN and KGO probably being the best. Then again, they’re getting beat up at the agency level for being too old. Once our friends in the sales department figure out how to sell direct and to the low end of the Boomers (45+) maybe somebody would let you and Gary rattle on about whatever the heck you feel like talking about. It’s a lot more entertaining than what’s on most over the air stations.
